A little about Eric.
I have lived in Grand Junction for more than 35 years. I have experience in a variety of treatment styles and settings in Grand Junction, including residential youth facilities, crisis hotlines, co-responder (responding to mental health emergencies alongside law enforcement officials), and individual counseling. I graduated from a local high school and received a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from a university in Colorado. I received my Master’s Degree in Counseling, and am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Nationally Certified Counselor.
Why clients choose to see Eric.
I successfully qualified as a Certified First Responder Counselor through Academy Hour, a training provider specializing in mental health and leadership for first responders. This 120-day training focuses on the culture and challenges unique to first responders and ensure competency when working with the responder populations and their loved one through these challenges. The course includes trainings and real stories (some have the actual camera footage or 9-1-1 calls) from real responders, including EMT, LEO, Fire, and dispatchers. This course, plus 4 years as a co-responder clinician (2 years full-time, 2 years part-time) have given me a firm foundation on which to build a positive, beneficial therapeutic relationship with first responders of all types.
I live by the belief that we are our own biggest motivator, and we are our own biggest obstacle. I want to be there with you as you take steps towards making the changes that you want in your life: a listener, an advocate, a trusted confidant, and a collaborator as you move towards wellness.
